The INES sub-project “An Intelligent, Ubiquitous and Context Sensitive Public Transportation System” had two papers (a full paper and a short paper) accepted for publication in the VIII Brazilian Symposium on Collaborative Systems (Simpósio Brasileiro de Sistemas Colaborativos - SBSC).
SBSC will occur in October 5th - 7th in Paraty/RJ.

The full paper presents the results of a survey conducted with public transportation users which investigates how collaborative systems based on social networks and collective intelligence can support sharing information with the passengers. The results show that there is a scarcity of ways to obtain real-time information related to public transportation and that the use of social network applications and collective intelligence is an interesting way to share and obtain this kind of information. This is a result of collaboration among researchers of UTFPR-Campo Mourão and UFBA.
The short paper proposes a social network application that enables users to create routes on maps that can be edited collaboratively. This paper is part of the graduation work of a UTFPR-Campo Mourão student.

    Publication details are:

The papers entitled MaRKSoNe: Uma Ferramenta para Suporte a Gestão de Conhecimento em Projetos de Software”, “Utilizando Redes Sociais e Folksonomia para Localizar Especialistas de Domínioand Um Processo para Gestão do Conhecimento Organizacional através de Redes Sociais are among the 24 papers accepted on the VI Simpósio Brasileiro de Sistemas Colaborativos (SBSC 2009). These papers are results from project “Social Networks as a Knowledge Management Tool for Software Development” (UFBA, UFPE and CESAR).

The first paper presents MaRKSoNe, a system for managing automatic recommendations of knowledge within software projects. The deployment of MaRKSoNe in a Software Factory are showing positive signs, like the reduction of the time needed for inserting new professionals on software development projects.

The second paper presents SWEETS 2.0 and its deployment on a.m.i.g.o.s., a web based social network (WBSN) used as the main communication and collaboration tool inside C.E.S.A.R. – an Innovation Institute of Recife. SWEETS is based on emergent onthologies extracted from folksonomies, and is used to disseminate tacit knowledge to every employee on the enterprise.

The third paper presents a case study describing the effects of using a web based social network as the main Knowledge Management Tool for a Innovation Institute in Brazil.
