INES proposes challenge at the II Seminar on Grand Challenges in Computer Science Research in Brazil

The Seminar Grand Challenges in Computing Research in Brazil, organized by and held in SBC São Paulo on May 8th-9th, 2006, was a pioneering initiative in Computer Science in Brazil, in order to plan and direct research in computing for a period of 10 years (2006-2016). The seminar brought together over the two days 26 Brazilian researchers in the field of computing.

The positive impact this initiative has been quite significant, since it allowed to identify major research themes for the period of a decade to launch bids for research funding directed to the identified research topics, organize events around the themes and even influence stock wider setting of the Grand Challenges for Computing Research in Latin America.

SBC invited all members of the ICT industry, the scientific community and government enterprises related to ICT to contribute to the consolidation of the initiative of the Grand Challenges in Computer Science in Brazil for the next decade. The proposals were reviewed by a committee of experts on the relevance, scope and challenges envisioned.

INES sent and had a proposal approved with the challenge that INES intends to attack. The authors of proposals selected will participate in March 3rd-4th, 2009, in Manaus, of the II Seminar Grand Challenges in Computer Science in Brazil. More information at http://www.gd2.ufam.edu.br.
